God Love Concerta

I have been on Concerta to treat my ADHD symptoms for over 6 months now. I had an increase in milligrams once, and since then, I have been very happy with my results.

Except that this month we started our new deductible year and our deductible is $3500. Yep, everything is out of pocket until we have reached that mark, which meant that my Concerta prescription was going to cost me $151.00. Ouch!!!!! (My sons metadate, for ADHD, was $130.00).

I called the doctor and they gave me a new prescription for Adderral. I am not a fan of Adderral, it seems to bring out aggression and moodiness in children, and agitation in adults. But $15.00 seemd better then $151.00.

I took the Adderral for 3 days and went back to the Concerta. I did end up getting a discount coupon, so it was $116.00, but it is worth every penny I spent!!

Animals

Adeline's preschool was lucky enough to have a visit from the animal sanctuary called Roos N More. They brought a number of animals to the preschool and the kids had a blast.

Here is Carson with a toucan

Adeline and the toucan

I love this picture, it really shows the difference in my kids personalities. Adeline is loving the snake, while Carson could not be far enough away from it! This totally sums them up, a "go getter, fears little" and "calculating, cautious and conservative"

Not sure what that animal is called but it is a member of the raccoon family

There is the brave girl with the smaller snake!

One of those Day's

Yesterday was one of those days that all I heard was "mom." It was constant, ...mom, mom, mom, mom, until I was ready to change my name!

The day seemed to be challenging for my kids and I, which maybe was a good thing that it was all in one day. I had zero patience, Adeline was bouncing all over in her words and her actions and Carson was back to making negative comments, and becoming tearful over working on his workbook and practicing the violin. We had a stellar week last week with both kiddos, so I will let yesterday's moods slip by, and try and re group again.

Yep, I have

Yep, I have turned into "that kind of mother," whatever "that" is supposed to mean. I knew I would love my kids and do anything for them, but launching the beyblades in the bathroom while my son is taking a shower, well, I never knew that was going to be in my "mom" job description.

Actually, I really did not mind, it was quite amusing and entertaining, but it was so funny to hear Carson ask me to launch them so he could watch them in the shower.

I love his little face showing through the duck shower curtain!

Long Time

I cannot believe it has been a few weeks since I have posted anything. I knew I had been busy, but did not realize it had been so long. We have had friends in town, the end of the school year and now violin camp on top of a very busy work schedule. Oh, and a few holidays and birthday's, and asthma flare ups. Good times, good times.

Violin camp has been an experience. Some of these young kids have phenomenal talent and really are wonderful musicians. But, instead of really enjoying all the music and different classes, I have been the bathroom runner for the younger kids. Out of 16 kids, I am the only mom that has stayed the whole day with my child. Which means when a child has to use the restroom, I get that fabulous chore since the teacher cannot stop teaching and the classes are in an old high school and they don't want kids getting lost.

But why should I be surprised that all the difficult, and poorly behaved kids parents drop and run??? They are obviously smarter then I.

I am smiling on the inside though, because there is a young boy there who I believe has Asperger's and is just cute as can be. I swear I am magnetically attracted to these kids. I can find them right off and I love watching and interacting with them. They truly are a gift to this world if people will take a minute, and have patience to understand them.

A Fish, A Fish!

So, in the 12+ years I have known my husband, I have never known him to actually catch a fish. He of course says he has caught hundreds of fish, with the number of fish and the size of the fish growing exponentially with each recall.

But tonight........he actually caught a fish, and I saw it with my own eyes and had to document this occasion.
Pulling the cat fish out
The yucky part, taking the hook out
His cat fish catch
So proud

The Season of Fun!

The season of fun has begun! Because.......they are back!! Our friends that live across the country are back for a month. Carson has his best buddy back, Adeline has her crafty friend back, and of course, I have my friend back. We have had food a plenty, and snow cones by the pool. Doesn't get much better then that!!!

The boys ended up with pirate swim trunks, not even planned
